INFINITI has always been at the cutting edge of car design, and the INFINITI Vision Qe is the natural next step. As the new all-electric sedan from this storied marque, the Qe takes INFINITI’s artistry in design concept and applies it to the world of EVs, as INFINITI prepares for an all-electric range by 2030.
Every detail of the Qe has been carefully crafted to challenge the convention of what a sedan can be, create an emotional response, and give the effect of movement even when the vehicle is sitting still. The Qe has a Shadow Blue finish that’s been highlighted in a luster gold, and when light hits it, it seems to dance across the vehicle. This is enhanced by the fluid design and fastback profile: you don’t have to see it in a wind chamber to see the aerodynamic sleekness that flows from front to back.
Design Philosophy
The design team took three Japanese philosophies and made them the focal points for this car: Kabuku (“extraordinary”); Sho (“movement”); and Sui (“sophisticated purity”). What does this mean? Take Sho, for example. This philosophy expresses not just any old movement, but the kind of movement that’s both graceful and powerful simultaneously, like an eagle in flight.
As an eagle flies, it looks almost motionless, but it is moving with incredible speed. Thus, the designers of the Qe created a sleek profile that looks muscular yet sleek, simultaneously making movement seem powerful and effortless. The colors for the Qe further emphasize the key design philosophies, too, with clean, smoky blue highlighted in gold to express purity and sophistication.
Light & Artistry
The Qe isn’t meant to just perform on the road, nor is it just another EV alternative to a gas-guzzler. It’s digital artistry in motion. The double-arched grille looks like nothing you’ve ever seen on a vehicle, and the digital piano key lighting in the front and rear shine in a gold that highlights the car’s best features. The front fascia has been completely redesigned, with slim headlights that go entirely around the vehicle and connect, which gives a sense of width. The taillamps go across the entire rear of the vehicle and are so seamlessly integrated with the vehicle itself that it’s nearly impossible to see where the lamps intersect with the body panels.
When you walk up to your vehicle, the Qe will display an animated lighting sequence to welcome you home, and even the wheels aren’t neglected. They’ve been designed with an eye-catching pattern inspired by the coils of the electric motor the vehicle runs on.
